Item #1: 1928 Dec 5. Letter from President Edwin Anderson Alderman to Governor Harry Flood Byrd. In response to claims and rumors by the Anti Saloon League of Virginia that the University is plagued by illegal and excessive drinking and that the attitude of the President and faculty of the University is one of approval, President Alderman writes a defense of the University and a promise that, as an institution of the State, the University is compliant with the laws of Prohibition. Item #2: 1930 Mar 27. Anonymous Prohibition Poll distributed to students by College Topics. Questions include "Do you ever drink?"; "Do you ever get drunk?"; stance on Prohibition legislation.
